Avli is a combination of all-suites hotel with restaurant, wine cellar and a shop with traditional products. Avli was created 25 years ago, in 1987, in an effort to optimize and upgrade the historic center of Rethymnon. Avli is housed in a cluster of beautiful Venetian buildings of the 16th century offering the visitor a real acquaintance with the life of Crete. Avli features a unique blend of traditional Cretan architecture with modern luxury and aesthetic. The same approach characterizes the kitchen. We prepare what we call Creative Cretan cuisine. This is a truly authentic dining acquaintance with the Cretan cuisine, using raw materials of indisputable quality combining a contemporary culinary concept and design with the renowned hospitality of the Cretans. Apart from the beach, perhaps the ancient ruins, there is another method of getting to know an area, that of gastronomy. Local dishes teach us much about the geophysical and climatic conditions, the local economy, even its history. AVLI, for 25 years, constantly searches and suggests dishes from Crete and the Mediterranean to unprejudiced, adventurous and willing palates. In a Venetian mansion circa 1600 that continues to “live” until today, a group of young people is trying to reconcile memories of yesterday and materials to the eating habits of today. We cook for you and preserve, as much as possible, the authenticity of the culture and tradition that surrounds us.
